About
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of University College of Engineering, Ramanathapuram itself a centre of excellence that is widely recognized for its distinctive stamp of quality in academic, rich and vibrant research environment. The faculty members of ECE Department well learning and doing researches in different areas. The curriculum covers all areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering, while the ascend is on academic excellence through curriculum based experiments, care is taken to blend it with research oriented projects for the students to acquire hands – on experience. A fully equipped library and laboratories with high speed internet facilities are other features that aids students in the pursuit of academic excellence. ENICORE, an association of ECE Department motivates the students by providing a well-equipped platform for the students to develop their field of interest with an academic excellence. The miscellany of outlook is obtained by the live interactions between faculty and the students through regular conduct of seminars, Symposiums, Workshops, Personality development and training programmes. The alumni of our department are spread far and wide across the globe holding eminent positions in Industries and Academia.

Departmental Activities
- Organized FDP on “EC 6702 – Optical Communication and Networks” during 11- 06-2018 to 18-06-2018 funded by Centre for Faculty Development, Anna University Chennai with an amount of Rs.80,000/-.
- Organized FDP on “EC 6402 – Communication Theory” during 12-12-2014 to 18- 12-2014 funded by Centre for Faculty Development, Anna University Chennai with an amount of Rs.80,000/-.
- Organized a one day workshop on “Digital Image Processing” on 07-01-2014 funded by ENICORE, the Association of ECE.
- Organized a National level Technical Symposium ‘ESPERANZA 2K13’ on 09.10.2013 partially funded by Anna University, Regional Centre, Madurai.
- Organized FDP on “EC 2301 – Digital Communication” during 12-06-2013 to 18- 06-2013 funded by Centre for Faculty Development, Anna University Chennai with an amount of Rs.90,000/-.
- Organized one day seminar on “RFID and its applications” on 11-10-2012 funded by ENICORE, the Association of ECE.
- Organized two day workshop on “Real time Implementation of Embedded System” during 10-08-2012 to 11-08-2012 funded by ENICORE, the Association of ECE.
- Twenty ECE students attended an orientation programme on ‘Prevention of AIDS’ on 07-11-2009 organized by RRC of our campus.
- Fifteen ECE students involved in ‘Sapling Planting’ on 24-09-2009.
- Fifteen ECE students involved in ‘Blood donation camp’ during the year 2009.
Students Activities
- Third year students of our Department attended four workshops in various institutions around Tamilnadu on the topics of ‘Antenna Design and Analysis’, ‘Role of Thermal Images in Research Operation and Maintenance’, ‘FPGA Firmware Development in VLSI’, ‘Factory Automation using Programmable Logic Controller’ during 2015-2016.
- Also two of our third year students attended and received II and III prize awards in paper presentation, poster presentation and quiz programmes in sysposium conducted by Department of ECE, St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and Technology, Chennai during 2015-2016.
- Also students of ECE Department has attended workshops, seminars, conferences and symposium at various institutions inside Tamilnadu.
Funded Project
- Four of our 2018 passed out students got state level best project award from “Tamil Nadu skill Development Corporation” titled “Coastal monitoring system using wireless communication” and got prize amount of Rs.1,00,000/- from TN Government.
Placement
- Two of our 2016 passed out students got placed in Infoview Technologies, Chennai in campus interview at our campus.
- Two of our 2015 passed out students had undergone TCS placement training programme conducted in our campus and got placed in TCS, Chennai.
